Kaitlyn Tenzos would not be denied at the plate on Thursday, picking up four hits and leading Trojans to a 23-4 win over Mt. Gilead. Tenzos singled in the first, doubled in the third, doubled in the fourth, and doubled in the fifth.
Mt. Gilead scored three runs in the fourth inning, but Trojans still managed to pull out the victory. The offensive firepower by Mt. Gilead was led by M Murphy, Jones, and Miller, who all drove in runs.
Trojans got things moving in the first inning. An error scored one run for Trojans.
Trojans tallied seven runs in the fourth inning. Tenzos, Zoe Huber, Aubrey Clippinger, and Allie Beekman each drove in runs during the inning.
Savannah Dehart got the start for Trojans. She went five innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out two.
M Murphy was in the circle for Mt. Gilead. She allowed 11 hits and 13 runs over three innings, striking out four and walking one. M Noble and K Griffith entered the game as relief, throwing one inning and one inning respectively.
Trojans smacked one home run on the day. Beekman had a dinger in the fourth inning.
Trojans tallied 15 hits. Tenzos, Chloe Goulter, Dehart, and Huber each had multiple hits for Trojans. Tenzos went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Trojans in hits. Trojans didn’t commit a single error in the field. Dehart had five chances in the field, the most on the team.
